Raising money for Special Care Baby Unit

Fantastic effort by Camberley Martial Arts Paddock Hill Dojo in completing the 2020 Sponsored Karate Techniques events on World Karate Day Sunday 7th October 2012.

Money raised for the Special Care Baby Unit at Frimley Park Hospital was a Grand Total of £1,612.56.

The event was made even more special when I was told

the following story :

Do you remember the weather on Monday 7th April 2008 ?

The parents of one of my students do. They have shared with me their personal family story and the special connection they feel to Frimley Park Hospital, which made the participation of their son in our sponsored 2020 techniques event all the more fitting.
It was extremely cold on Monday 7th April 2008, as only the day before it had unusually snowed heavily. My student, who was 22 months old at the time, was playing in his grandparents’ garden when in a split second he was missing: his grandparents, elder brother and sister searched for him.
Having been found face down in his grandparents’ pond my student was a priority call to Frimley Park A&E. He was resuscitated at the scene but remained critically cold and at risk of infection.
Remarkably following treatment at Frimley Park Hospital, he was discharged after just 48 hours and remains fighting fit at the dojo now :)
Having also been born at Frimley Park Hospital, my student’s family continue to hold the hospital in high regard.

Thank you to everyone that contributed to make it a wonderful special day.
